INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO DANIEL H. PINK and get smart, fast!
If you don't know him, he's written some great books, which are generally classified as "business books," but they're much more than that...each is different. Here are three titles:
DRIVE http://www.amazon.com/Drive-Surprising-Truth-About-Motivates/dp/1594484805/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8
A WHOLE NEW MIND http://www.amazon.com/Whole-New-Mind-Right-Brainers-Future/dp/1594481717/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8
TO SELL IS HUMAN http://www.amazon.com/To-Sell-Is-Human-Surprising/dp/1594631905
These are very interesting books, but what's even more intriguing is his website, in particular his OFFICE HOURS free podcasts (about 50 minutes each) in which he interviews luminaries (are they called THOUGHT LEADERS these days?) in a wide variety of fields. (Go here to view: http://www.danpink.com/office-hours/) His guests include
- Biz Stone, Seth Godin, Adam Grant, Jonah Berger, Bob Sutton and Huggy Rao, Amanda Ripley, Diane Ravitch, Bob Stone, Tom Rath, Malcolm Gladwell, Seth Goldman and Barry Nalebuff, Chip and Dan Heath, Gretchen Rubin, Paul Tough, Dan Ariely, Tom Peters, Harvey MacKay, Susan Cain, Jim Collins, Marcus Buckingham, and Teresa Amabile and Steven Kramer.
Fascinating guests, one and all. The interviews are about the ideas they have, about the books they've written, and about the lives they've lead. You get smart very fast listening to these. Read all their books and you might become dangerous. I'd advise it. I'm working my way through...
How has this helped me? It stirs up my mind, gives me way more options for my thinking, allows me to imagine new projects, inspires me to do the work and to understand how important it is to reach out to YOU, to be of help where I can be, and to join a community of folks who have work to do and want to do it creatively.
So there you go. I'll be sharing other sites I've found useful, so stay tuned. (ever go to shopzenpencils.com?)I'd love to hear your recommendations....
